Saturday night fever!!! This lucky chap caught one of the many giant big head shrimps in the ponds. There were other anglers who had close encounters with them too but the shrimps proved to be a tougher opponent than alot of them. Only Desmond made it to the olive crown. Well done mate!!! Thank you for the support!!!
It has been awhile since Pasir Ris Happy Pro Prawning had such a crowd on Saturday night. People were fishing for shrimps shoulders to shoulders.
Some managed a few shrimps but many caught a bag full. I guess at the end of the day it depends on luck, very much.
The baits might be another issue too.
I will be writing a thread about baits for big head shrimps soon. Stay tuned!
By the way, hope to see you all again at the pond.
Oh yes. Many asked, "Why alot of small shrimps one?"
Yes, I admit that there are many small shrimps in the ponds but as for the bigger ones, you will have to hunt for them.
What do I mean by hunting for them? You have to actually find them. My tip is to fish the walls and the corners and if you happen to hook up a decent one, there will be more around the same area. My few friends are expert in this area and they actually caught many decent ones than the smaller ones. So remember that next time you hook up a decent shrimp, stay at the same spot for awhile as you just might be fishing right above a group of decent ones.
As for quality, my shrimps are all wild stocks and non are from the farms. Thus the texture and quality and taste of the shrimps are very much better. Even the small ones have lots of 'go' (in cantonese) in the heads. Sometimes the size does matter but at times, taste rules too.
