Rapala Husky Jerks. [TOP: HJ08CLN; BELOW: HJ08TSD.] Check out the hooks of the CLN! Posted by Hello

ZERO!

20040808, I decided to go fishing before the bed bugs get me.

I packed my stuffs and dug out two Rapala's Husky Jerks HJ08 (lures from hell as acclaimed by Mordern Fishing [Aust.] Magz) from my old tackle box, giving them new hooks and split rings while the originals were discarded. Daiichi trebles (high carbon, extra sharp point properties) and some 3x split rings which are choices for barramundi fever in local pay ponds.

Reached my playground at about 2045hrs and made my first cast with the very old HJ06 CLN.

Before the lure got lifted up for another cast, WHAM!!! The hooks did not set!!!

Never get to see what hit the lure with such violence as it was too dark to figure out.

Checked the lure, nothing amiss.

After 15mins later, casting to my left horizon, FISH ON!!!

In less than 15s of tug of war...

15s, 14s ...., 3s (my reel started to scream)..... 2s..... (still screaming), 1s.... (it was really loud).... SILENT engulfed me! My line went loose and my reel scream stopped.

Reeled in my lure and checked the trebles with the dim streets lights in a distant... 2 bent hook shanks. One went in closer to the stem and the other vice vesa. (Check out the photos!)

Oh my oh my... what happened?

Using the same HJ08 CLN, I had a few more hits but all never connect.

Decided to take out the other HJ08 TSD.

Kept the HJ08 CLN.

Within 10 casts, I felt something shaking violently at the other end of my line. In less than a split second, my right arm automatically whipped the rod hard and, FISH ON once more!

Splash splash splash... the fish came charging towards by the bank. WTH!!!

Before it reached me where I stood gingerly, it made a left turn and got my reel screaming at his loudest pitch! My soul fainted that very moment when the fish came charging at me... hahaha

It was after merely 5s of un-ochestrated screaming, the beast, SILENT, got me once more...

No more hits after this.

Both fish displayed aerial jumps. Each estimated more than a foot in length. The first fish leaped at least 6 times out of the water and the second, thrice. Super adrenaline pumping action with a Not SO Good ending...

I'll be back.

c`.^P

"What fish could those be, Sebarau???"

What would have caused such mayhem to the trustworthy Daiichi trebles in less than 15s of tight of war???!!!??? Posted by Hello

The fly that got inhaled by all 3 peacock basses and finally it got set in the jaws of the biggest one! My biggest to date!!! Posted by Hello

2004-08-03

Finally, I wet my line & got this pretty thing!

On the 3rd of August, I decided to wet my line and upon my friend, Eric Heng's encouragement, I took my fly outfit with me, Scott STS 6wt.

It was just before sunset, I cast my line towards to horizon and while stripping it back, I saw 3 peacock basses chasing my fly and my heart started to throttle up!

The smallest of the 3 inhaled my fly but I couldn't strike as it was too near and no chance to set, and the fish got the chance to spit it out straight away.

o_o`

Straight away I tried to position my fly once again and the next bigger in size decided to go for it. This fish is funny. It took the fly n spit it out, and did the whole thing once more... the hook didn't set...

"Was it because I did not fish for too long?"

This time, I re-positioned the fly once more. "Once more, please. Take it and I will set it pretty, thanks!"

God answered my wish and guess what, the biggest of the 3, inhaled the fly and FISH-ON!!!

Guess what? This peacock bass did not do its normal "Battle for Freedom" or "Aerial Display" as it just swam left, right, and then left... right... left... all within 3 meters diameter...

"Engine problem?"

About 3mins went past... the fish decided to relent.

Holding it up, and my friend Eric Heng snapped a 'blur' shot for me. Thank you Eric...

From its weight and length, I guessed it is about 4-5lbs or more and measuring about the length of my shoulder... 22-24inches.

My biggest peacock bass to date!

I will be back for more! ;P

It is a little blur... (very blur). Haiz... ;P Posted by Hello

Popping for GTs, jigging for Amberjacks???

Today, after much thoughts and listening to advice from friends at the tackle shop. I have decided to stand aside from finese fishing. Decision made, it is time to pick up some good stuffs to do some serious fishing, popping and jigging.

Looking at all the poppers and the jigs... they make my heart bubble... they are ARTS!!!

Looking at the rods n the reels... my wallet trembles... hahaha

I tested out a few rods... OMG, it could almost leave me up!!! This is serious!!!

Watched a video about jigging in the Eastern Malaysia... saw the same rod bent to hell with a monster which never get landed and stripped 65lbs of fiber!!! Stripped till the heart of the spool on a overhead!!!

COOL!!!

I think I will get my hands on somemore... ;P Posted by Hello

Look at them, so cute!!! Posted by Hello

Went to the tackle shop this morning with a bunch of fishing kakis. Saw this little fellow longer and finally decided to line in one for the sake of being a fishing passion kit... hahaha... Cute? Posted by Hello

Youri EMPE, an excellent lure which is no longer in production. I found it in a junkyard sale and got a great deal for it with a bunch of other USA and Japanese lures for less than US$20! This EMPE series helped me landed countless numbers of fish in the salt water commercial pond. Anything that bites, will bite it. I feel so lucky to find one of these again since mine was broken by a barramundi long ago. If anyone who do have such a lure, and willing to let it go, I will be interested to get it from you. Do drop me a line if you have them. Good day and tight lines to all! Posted by Hello

Skippy's posing for shots!

Hello people, I have this little JRT (6 months old) which is really a little Jack Rascal Terrier, SKIPPY. Haha. Although he is really playful and always foul poo'poo'ing, I still love him alot.

I think he did it on purpose. Sometimes, perhaps it depends on his mood too, he would be really nice and do all his businesses all accordingly on the papers. Unfortunately... sometimes he has an evil side!

My mum would be screaming at me when I reach home and telling me all about his foul plays... Beeeee!!!! RED CARD!!!!!

He just had a few teethings and almost time to remove his ability to pass on his light... I really do not wish so but I guess it is a better choice as I only live in flat and not in a house.

Skippy is very friendly and too friendly too. Kids who are more reserved are scared of his 'aggressive' friendliness.

The latest tricks that he could do is finding his favourite ball when asked to do so. Just say, "Ball Ball, where?" He will search high and low to find you his ball and then asking you to play 'Fetch' with him.

Meanwhile... no fishing for me till dont know when too. At least I have Skippy to play with me.

Hey! I am not ready! *gotcha* Posted by Hello
