Recent late June and early July Catch Reports, 2005
Hi all,
My pc went ICU the day before and thank God that it came back yesterday (just a few hours ago when I am writing this). No major 'illness' and nothing went 'kapuk' and so, just paid for 'man hours' = S$45. S$45... could have gotten me a few more jigs for my first ever deep sea jigging in Lucornia in late August.
Alright, back to the catch report. I am just too tired to write anything at all but all thanks to our dear friend, SM, we managed to climb over another obstacle in our chase for kaluis. Our usual tactics were not working. Our usual 'bullets' were rejected at the thick lips of the kaluis'. Our confident came to a halt suddenly... fish is smart, but we as humans, smarter... kekeke.
SM gave us a few tips and pointers and there, kaluis were on our Hit Chart again. The anatomy of insects is very important and normally most anglers locally would have overlooked this area and kept on using the same fly for the same fish but without the same result. I do believe that as anglers, we would have a few variations of the same flies of different colors in our fly box. Each time when a fish rejects a dry fly, we would normally swap to a different fly or of a different color. It is like a guessing game and sometimes, "BINGO!!!". Sometimes, ass luck.
If we could look closer to our environment and pay attention to the 'details' around us, we would be on our way to a better fishing day and days ahead. Luck is really important, but with knowledge and wisdom, a flyfisherman is deadly almost anywhere.
Oh yes, the weather lately is extremel sunny and hot. Remember to bring enough water to prevent dehydration during fishing. Please spare some time to apply sun block too. The UV rays from the sun are really harmful and... it had turned me into a 'coal-like' being... "chao tar liao lah..."
